Oh man, so Christmas is coming pretty soon. I haven't even had time to get into the Christmas spirit. My sister and I just went out Christmas shopping yesterday and we got the bulk of presents for our parents/grandparents/dogs but there's still some shopping to be done. DX Stupid school... making me so busy and forget about Christmas. I am listening to my Christmas mix now, though, so hopefully that will put me in a more festive mood. On top of that we're going to ZOOLIGHTS tonight. I've never been but I heard it was really cool. I'm pretty excited. I mean, Christmas lights... at the zoo. How can that not be awesome, amirite?

My birthday is also coming up on Sunday, which I keep forgetting about. It's only my 22nd, which isn't all that exciting. I was talking to someone (I forgot who DX) and they said that they were really excited about their 22nd birthday because that's when you actually start to get taken seriously. Like when you're 21, people automatically just think that you drink all the time and you're irresponsible. But when you turn 22... I guess that automatically means you're a more responsible person. I'm going to spend my birthday eating crab and watching Avatar. It's going to be awesome.

Even though school has been over for like a week now, I still haven't managed to do anything productive as far as drawing goes. DX I have no ideas of what to draw, though. I'm not the kind of person who can just sit down and sketch shit because if I don't have a solid image in my mind of what I want to draw, it just turns into shitty sketchy lines and I get discouraged. I could try, though. Or at least work on my comic...

Also, my evil bunny, Rorschach, lets me pick her up as much as I want and as long as I want now! I knew forcing her into a small room with me would do her some good. muahaha...

This quarter is almost over. I can't believe how easy it was in the beginning and how it all just snowballed into a massive clump of pain, coffee and lack of sleep. I will probably post up the fruits of my (and my group's) labor later on when it's actually finished~ The next two quarters I'm basically going to be pretending I'm an Art History major, not a Design major. DX That's what I get for putting off ALL OF MY ART HISTORY REQUIREMENTS UNTIL MY SENIOR YEAR.

I beat Persona 4. So now I have no idea what to do with my time... so I'm going to do this meme.

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

2. Age
21. 22 in a month! DX

3. Location
I was born in Arizona. My dad was in the Marines so we moved around... kind of a lot, I guess. After being born and living in Arizona for about 3 months, we moved to Sasebo, Japan and lived there till I was around 3/4. After that we moved to Ocean Side, California and lived there until I was 7. After that my dad got out of the Marines and we moved up to Washington. Been living here since.

4. Occupation
Currently I'm just a student. I'm in my senior year of studying Design with an emphasis on Design Production. Over the past two summers I have gone to Korea to teach English to elementary schoolers. Before that, my first job was a nurses' aid at an extensive care facility my mother was the marketing director of. I basically fed people who couldn't feed themselves. After that, I worked for my school as a janitorial assistant. I vacuumed one of the main buildings of my university. After I graduate, I'm going to go back to Korea for a while to teach English/hopefully design.

5. Partner?
My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 15 months. I met him through my sister when I went to Korea to visit/teach for the first time. He's amazing and I miss him a lot. Long distance relationships suck, yo, but sometimes they're well worth it.

6. Kids?
I have no kids, maybe someday but definitely not anytime soon. DX

7. Brothers/Sisters
I have an older sister - she's 24 - and we have always had a pretty good relationship as far as siblings go. She's supported me through almost anything I've attempted to do and I really appreciate that. I can talk to her about pretty much anything and go to her when I need guidance. She's pretty much my life mentor, lol. We can definitely have our disagreements, though. I think, at this point, we know each other well enough to know when to back off when we're pissing each other off, though.

8. Pets
My family has two dogs. The first one we've had since he was 9 months old and he's 10 years old now. We rescued him from the pound the day before they would have put him down. He's pretty much the epitome of "man's best friend." He's a border collie/golden lab mix. He LOVES chasing tennis balls and his nickname is "Smaug" because he hordes EVERYTHING for himself, even if he's not playing with them. His real name is Mocha and he's pretty much the best pet I have had or will ever have. The second dog we have, Yuki, is a pomeranian/fox terrier(?) mix, although there is some speculation toward the possibility of him actually being full bred pomeranian. We got him from my mom's old coworker who couldn't handle him anymore. When he was younger, if he wasn't sleeping (which he did half the day) he was basically on crack. He's kind of an idiot but he's incredibly sweet and really amazing to cuddle with. He loves Mocha to death even if Mocha gets annoyed with him easily. They're a good pair, though.
My own pet is a rabbit named Rorschach. Her nicknames are Crazy, Special and Rory. She is kind of insane.

9. List the 3/5 biggest things going on in your life

Uuuh...
- Attempting to graduate this Spring.
- Keeping a healthy, loving relationship with my boyfriend while going 9 months without seeing him except on Skype (probably one of the more difficult and exhausting things on this list)
- This is my first year not living with my parents or on campus - so I guess learning about how to manage my money better to pay bills and stuff.
- Persona 4 was a pretty big part of my life for a while but, like I said, we just beat it so I'm going to have to try to find something else to fill this empty void that P4 left.
- Learning Korean

10. Parents
I love my parents. A lot. My mom is kind of a hard ass, but in the most loving way. She doesn't really accept failure unless you really did try your absolute hardest. Sometimes I feel like she has unbelievable expectations for my sister and me but I think that just show how much she believes in us. She's amazing and is very supportive but can also be a really great reality check. My dad is incredibly supportive and believes that if you really believe in something then you should go for it. He's so funny and I love hanging out with him, especially watching really bad Sci-fi original movies with him. Sometimes we go golfing. :3 My dad is some sort of manager of a beer and wine distributing warehouse and my mom is currently in between jobs but is studying to be a translator.

11. Who are some of your closest friends?
My friends on LJ who I actually know (and live with) are zankara and skeletonshark they are awesome and the best roommates ever. I've lived with skeletonshark since freshman year and I've known zankara since... last year I guess? We're all design majors so there can be very stressful times in the house. We've been playing P4 together. Good bonding times. We also live with a friend that I've had since middle school but she doesn't have an LJ!
My very best friends don't have LJs either and I've also known them since middle school. They've been my best friends since 7th grade and probably always will be. One is going to be a nurse and the other is going to be a lawyer. We've grown to be really different in the past 9 years but I think our crazy history together formed a bond that can never be broken.

Korea was good. I was sad to leave but happy to be back with my buddies again. Miiiixed emotionssss. I may post pictures later if I remember.

I'm really tired and have been laughing at things that aren't funny in Final Fantasy VI.

I basically haven't drawn in like 3 months because all I did was work and sleep and spend precious moments with my boyfriend so now I basically suuuck and drawing. I have every Thursday off this quarter, though, so I'm devoting those days to DRAWING.

I had the first day of my senior year of university today! The more I think about my classes, the more I feel a little overwhelmed by it all. I mean, by the end of these nine months, I'm supposed to be prepared for going out in the real world and getting a career. That's kind of... big. At least it is right now for my sleepy brain.

Anyway, today's classes were as follows:

Biology 101 - 8:00-9:00 (my last GUR!)
Advanced Design Production - 11:00 - 2:00
Storytelling - 2:00 - 4:00
Professional Practices in Graphic Design - 6:00 - 7:15

So basically I'm at school for nearly 12 hours. Between 4 and 6 I did go home but I probably wouldn't have if skeletonshark hadn't suggested we go home. I live like 10/15 minutes away from campus on foot and a 2 hour break doesn't really seem like enough time to go home and rest well. But we went home anyway. In the future I'll probably use that time in the computer labs or production room working.

That's basically it for right now. I'm glad to get back to the flist. I feel like I've been missing out on a lot while I've been in Korea.

Sorry I haven't been commenting on anyone's LJ posts but I've been in Korea for the past week (and will be until September) and the internet is really only something I use when I'm bored and I'm never really bored here so I'm never really on the internet. Buuuut I'm not dead and I still check the internet every couple days but I've been so busy lately. But I'm sorry and I'll try to be better in the future if I can!!

I've been working on an animation for a long time and I'm getting through it slowly but surely but not without raging my pants off like every five minutes. Stupid Flash... I wish to know you better, but you keep pushing me away!

As far as art goes... I have not been doing much. Sad day. I've only done like two things and it's a comic page and a thing for a three-way art trade. So I guess I'll show you the art trade one.

Trying to get the procrastination bug out of me really fast so I can work my ass off on a brochure that is a final for one of my design classes and which I have done virtually nothing for. Here is some stuff that I've done lately, all of which have been for one class or another...

This first one was is for a design production class. It's an individual assignment that we had to do out of class. My first, but definitely not my last, try at screen printing. CAN WE SAY NO REGISTRATION!?! Next time whatever I do won't be so small. This guy is about 1.5"x3.5" and he goes on the bottom right side of paper like some sort of decoration on stationary.

I did these pages for my illustration class. It only has to be 1 page but, of course, I do 6. I'm (obviously) not finished yet. It's from a dream that I had when I was in high school. I feel OK about them, but I'm pretty uncomfortable about all the whiteness. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do to make it look not so blank?

omg... I just realized that my default icon moves almost perfectly to a koyaanisqatsi song. Ooohhh....

Comment to this post and I will give you five subjects/things I associate with you. Then post this to your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

1. Zombies - Zombies... what is there to not like about zombies? They offer copious amounts of entertainment, are fun to kill, and are even fun to be. Zombie is my favorite genre of almost everything that can have a genre.

2. Comics - Recently got on the American comic/graphic novel train and I'm enjoying it very much. Especially the graphic novels. The art is amazing and inspiring and the stories are really, really good. I'm into manga as well, of course, but I haven't really been able to find something that's held my interest for very long in a long, long time.

3. Muse - GODS OF MUSIC.

4. Childhood cartoons - I still love them and watch them when I can. Even if some of them aren't really as good as I remember I can still appreciate them. Also, I kinda wish I were a child now so I could have sweet stuff like Flapjack and Yo Gabba Gabba! be my childhood cartoons but I'm pretty happy that, as an adult, I can enjoy them from a different perspective and possibly enjoy them more than I would have if I were a kid.

5. Pokemon - Watched the show as a kid and, because I didn't have any money, made pokemon cards from stats that I knew of existing pokemon so I could play with my nextdoor neighbor. Don't ask how I knew the stats because I can't remember. I think some of the time I had to copy from my friend's cards too. Never really played the console games until Diamond but I really love it and I especially love when skeletonshark helps me out because I'm a lost puppy.

School has been eating my entire life. I've managed to get one sketch of my own work down that isn't either part of my comic or part of some sort of homework assignment.

Felix's face seems a little chubby to me...

It's nowhere near finished. I still have quite a lot to do on it. Buuh so tired. I want to go back to bed but I have to leave for class in 30 minutes.

I seriously need to update more. I always say that I'm going to but dooon't! >.< Unfortunately I haven't been doing much art these days except for comic pages for a webcomic I'm doing. If you're at all interested you can read it at my deviantart gallery. I have a webcomics nation account as well but it's not up-to-date.

I did do another digital painting like a week after I did the one in the other entry.

I like the way that the minotaur came out but I wish I would have spent more time on the BG and the matador. I got a really creepy comment from this guy on DA about how he, "prefers the bull-headed fellow." For some crazy masochistic reason I clicked over to his gallery to find many topless, well endowed, minotaurs in really tight pants. DA... I cry for you.

Anyway, I just started up my winter quarter and I'm taking all design/art (or art related) classes and it's kind of been busy. Not a whole lot of assignments but a lot of preparation needs to go into the few assignments that we do have.

I also turned 21! So... yay for that. Going to bars and stuff. Woo.

That's about it in my life lately. Sorry I leave my journal pretty much empty. I used to update whatever blog I had like twice a day every day but that was when I was a whiny little high schooler.

I've been on a bit of a digital art kick these days... So here are two of the most recent things I've done.

I guess for some reason I just felt like drawing some lips. I used myself as a reference but I don't think it really looks like me. Maybe it does... I dunno.

I realized the other day that A. I never draw girls and B. When I draw girls I really suck at it. So I gave it a shot, using a reference found here and... yeah. I kind of like the way it turned out but there are still some things that bug me about it like I think her leg is too short and her shoulders are kind of broad... but yeah.

So I recently went to my fourth Decemberists concert (it's kind of weird because they're not even my favorite band) and their opening band was Loch Lomond who I absolutely fell IN LOVE with. Their musical geniuses. They have perfect rainy day type of music. They really great live too. So I suggest you check out this little unknown band for Portland, Oregon. :D

Now that the election is over, we can get to the important stuff. Why is there a light in the refrigerator but not in the freezer?

There's a light in the freezer at my parents' house... But maybe because when people look in the refrigerator, a lot of the time it's just because they're hungry but they don't know what to eat so they want to be able to look at everything a scope things out. Whereas in a freezer you usually know what you want. Also, refrigerators are bigger than freezers so the darkness has a higher impact on visibility (or lack there of).

Oh jeez. This journal is so dead, I'm sorry. I was in Korea from late June until late September... which is partially why this has been dead. Also I had the biggest, longest art block ever. It sucked crazy. But now I have some recent stuff that doesn't make me want to tear my eyes out... so that's positive.

Super!cheesy drawing I did of my boyfriend. He's in Korea now and I won't be able to see him for like 8 months. ;___;

Felix kicking a guy's helmet off his head~ I hadn't used copics in forever and it felt really good to get them back on paper again.

My most recent one... I just did this last night. Just in time for Halloween I guess. But when you're favorite characters to draw are zombies, every day is like Halloween! :D

Anyway, there you go. I know I say this like every time I make an update but hopefully I'll be able to post more often.

Seriously, though. I apologize for NEVER updating this thing. It's not that I don't draw... well partially yeah it is. I just never think about updating my LJ. I really need to draw more. GRAH.

I've been going through finals week and studying and doing final projects and stuff so drawing for myself has kind of been the last thing on my mind lately. Not to mention I haven't been all that much inspired lately.

Anyway, enough blather

I may have been full of emo when I drew this. I can't really remember. Emo or rage. Or something. I think I just wanted to draw some sort of emotion... and whispy hair.

This was like the last thing I was actually really inspired to draw. It was after reading the first volume of Sandman, which I highly recommend. I loved it so much and I'm in the middle of the second one, ATM. I just wish comics weren't so expensive.

Dumb character design of a kid named Kip (short for Kipman). From the same story that all the other guys with white irises and small pupils are from. Can you tell that I was watching Soul Eater why doing this? I'll probably change his clothes since I feel like it's a little too close to Black Star for my comfort but for now... I need to not draw shorts so stupid.

I worked on a bunch of drawings in pretty short time so I'm just going to dump it all here now~

I know that nobody really cares and you're only friends with this journal because you're nice enough to let me read your journals but please take a look. ^.^;

I started out with this series of drawings featuring skulls of animals that reflects my characters' personalities/traits.

Luca's skull is a tiger. His personality matches that of a tiger as they generally keep to themselves and also the way that they hunt/fight are very similar. lol... he's the only one without a shirt. I always draw him without a shirt. :P

Dmitri's skull is a raven. They're both very clever and tricky and tend to get others to do their dirty work.

Rin is very sly and clever (like a fox!) and like in many fairy tales, he is very sneaky and stealthy.

Asher's skull is a bear. He's very protective of those he loves, his fighting style is also similar to a bears as he makes wide, and powerful blows. I could also see him running around in a forest barrelling down bushes and such. X3

Rieka's skull is a wolf. She takes care of those in her "pack" or village, she's prideful and very swift although not all that powerful.

And that picture of Dmitri and Luca that I was working on a while ago. I was going to color it but I just got tired of it so I spit some blacks on it and called it a day.

OK, so my friend's friend found a website www.animefirst.com which sells the entire collection of Sailor Moon for $99. But the thing is that she's afraid it's too good to be true. She doesn't mind of it's bootleg or anything, she only cares if it'll work in DVD players and all that and isn't super crappy quality. Has anyone heard of that website and, if so, could you shed some light on its credibility? Thanks a lot!
